Akhenaten: I have many requests to see if I'm going back on a solo but I have to find the energy to do so. This is not related to non-commitment to music. I shut myself three months and it's done. I had the privilege to listen to some songs from We Luv New York and we feel a very technical project that leaves a place of honor at the punchline. Is this a project to cut the scene?
Faf Larage: What is strange is that we did not think writing in projecting on the scene. It is true that now we are in full rehearsals, we realize that we matter. After the album, there are nearly 50% of the pieces that are not égotrips and more focused on the text.
Akhenaten: We go on a tighter configuration on stage with Buddha on the MPC Kriss, DJ Daz the turntables and two MCs. He had to find ways to bounce on the show 1:40. In such training, the DJ has a prominent place in the show. It's party Daz!

Akhenaten: We Luv In New York, we find the modern elements that marked the career of Faf and mine. There is only one aspect of our personality that we will not find in the album is the storytelling. Akhenaten: I have a lot but I still marked by my first visit to the Latin Quarter Club where I was with all the artists and rap groups that I listened. I was dreaming and I realized that anything was possible. I turned my head ... I saw Just Ice, Run DMC, Eric B & Rakim. After I am quite nostalgic for New York that I knew when recording albums of AMI and the studios no longer exist today because they were replaced by boutiques.

Do you extend the concept of We Luv New York?
Akhenaten: Why not, but we concentrate for now on the output of this project. It's fun because people have not listened to the first one they are already talking to us afterwards. We are aware of this economy around project so we'll see but I remember that my career has been made as of surprises. I was ready to resume my studies at the output of the MIA and we predicted 100 000 albums sold for the release of the School ... So we'll see!

Paintbox is the band of Linnea Olsson, the girl behind the cello of several brilliant Swedish artists such as Nina Kinert . I already reviewed its debut album Bright gold & red . Tomorrow, on Wednesday, comes out its second one called The Night (order the record here , buy the mp3s there ).

While Wild chance illuminated the debut, Mindreader is the highlight of this aerial night (I actually already put the live video of this song on my previous post about Paintbox). It could be just a good regular pop song, but with this sharp cello, and this stammering beatbox, the song turns quite magical, with an unusual atmosphere. Yes, believe it or not, a cello can change everything in a song.

The rest of the record is probably not as brilliant as Mindreader , but tunes such as the opening track The Night or Underground prove the band is able to write several killer songs. Too bad the production of the record is that clean. I would prefer more dirt. Anyway, since I had the chance to see Linnea playing live with her cello, I would recommend you to See Her and Her Buddies Live When They are around. And if Paintbox is Not helped by a big label or Anything, it is for sure a band to keep an Eye on (and ear year).

Paintbox is the group of Linnea Olsson, the girl who holds the cello a lot of quality groups in Sweden, like Nina Kinert . I've already published a criticism of their debut album Bright red & gold . Tomorrow, Wednesday, they released their second title The Night (order the disc here , buy it here in mp3 ). Wild

chance lit their first album on it's Mindreader that stands out (I had already posted a live video of that song in my previous post about Paintbox). It could only be a good simple pop song, but with the cello and the incisive rhythm stammering, the title heads to unimagined heights, a bit magical and certainly unusual. Yes, believe it or not, but a cello can transform a song.

The rest of the disc is probably not as bright as the summit, but songs such as The Night which opens the disc, or Underground prove that the group is capable of laying several killings. It's just a pity that the production is so smooth. I had hoped more grain. Still, for having the chance to see them live Linnea and her cello, I can guarantee you a concert of the group is recommended. And if Paintbox do not have a major label can provide for its promotion, it is nevertheless a group to follow the corner of my eye (and ear).

The young Le Fever reminds me some of the best Swedish bands. I mean first time I heard Brothers , I thought it was Loney, Dear waking up and turning into the Shout out louds . This is the last time reminds me more The Whitest boy alive / Kings of convenience though.

Both songs belong to their Beginners Luck new EP That You Can download for free on Their website . When The Fever Will not make me think about and Others Will Find Their proper sound, They Might Become A truly great band. Right now, They Are Promising.

young lads from The Fever remind me of some of the best Swedish bands. The first time I listen Brothers, I thought I heard Loney, Dear wake up and turn into Shout Out Louds . This Is The Last Time evokes more The Whitest Boy Alive / Kings of Convenience .

Both titles are on their new Beginners Luck EP you can download for free on their website . When The Fever will cease to make me think of other courses and find their own, they become a real good group. Today they are promising.

Man vs Machine. Chapter 1 was An Object . A great album. Techno. Punk. Rock. Obsessive. Chapter 2 is called Mischmasch . Machine won. You will not listen to it the same way whether you have already known Paper 's music or not. I have been following this band since 2006 , sum up their whole story in an interview , so I do not discover it today. And I have not been surprised by this new record. There is a reason to that : several songs from it were written a while ago, like Ears keep ringing (the video you can watch was shot in 2008....).

So, if Mischmasch can be seen as the logical sequel to An Object , it is a little bit better. A little bit darker too: if An Object featured a song called Why don't you try it with him , there is a tune called Don't go out with him in Mischmasch . All hope is gone then. It has been replaced by obsession. Lyrics such as "our world" or "self-destructive" are thus repeated over and over again until apocalypse happens.

Mischmasch first single, Coming from you , already came out. I said all the good I thought about it here . The whole album is at this level. No bad songs. But plenty of great angry anthems ( Don't go out with him , Our World ). This is definitely a punk record, but not the kind of "punk" we are used to. This is post post punk. With no equivalent. Or maybe just one : Paddington DC , the solo project of mister Calle Olsson , also member of the great Bear Quartet and of... Paper. He is probably THE most interesting guy within the whole Swedish scene. Paper is THE Swedish band you should listen to right now. And Mischmasch THE record you should buy if you can only buy one this year (it's gonna be released pretty soon ; you can get Paper albums here ).

Well, maybe not popular as big "Robyn" popular, but at least "indie" popular. I mean if people with bad taste can like JJ , people with good taste can fancy Niels.
